Dream Theater Intrigue

For those reading this who might not know yet. My wife Christina and I are expecting our first child this November.

I was talking with Christina recently about the fact I’ve been having a bunch of what could be described as “weird” dreams. She told me she read online that it’s fairly common for expecting parents to experience frequent and lucid dreams leading up to the baby’s birth. I guess that is somewhat comforting to know I’m not the first to experience this. If the dreams are in fact caused for that reason?

This past weekend I had a dream that I felt was blog worthy.

I’ll introduce this to you by saying I have no idea what this dream means. And I have absolutely no clue as to why some very notable celebrities make a cameo. So if any of you readers have a guess as to any who/what/where/why’s, please feel free to try to debunk the reasons behind this dream.

*The Dream*

I’m in an abnormally long hallway. It’s very dark. The hallway would be pitch black if it wasn’t for a dim light at the end of this hallway. So I start walking towards the light. As I get closer to the light I can hear someone talking. I notice there is a door that isn’t completely closed. And both the light and sound seem to be coming from a TV inside the room. I slowly open the door and walk in.

Brad-PittAt first I didn’t see anyone in the room. As I look at the TV to see what’s on I hear someone behind me say, “Hey”! I quickly turn my head to see that Brad Pitt and some woman are sitting there. I guess they were enjoying a movie night? Brad Pitt stands up and hastily asks, “What are you doing in my house”?

“I don’t know”, I said.
“Well, you’re gonna have to leave”.
“You can’t stay here”, he said.

I take a step back towards the door and the floor seems unstable. It’s weird. Like I’m standing on a water-bed. I said something to Brad Pitt about it. He gets worried, but seems to know exactly why the floor is absorbing water.

“I gotta go down to the 4th floor and check the laundry room”.
“Something’s not right”, he said.

I go into the hallway again.

This time, a hallway light is on. This time, I see something I would have never ever expected to see anywhere, let alone on a floor in Brad Pitt’s house that apparently is higher than the 4th floor.

Batman-Forever-BatmobileThe Batmobile! The one from Batman Forever. I was in awe. My first and only thought was that I needed to drive this batmobile. Right. Now.

Brad Pitt is long gone. No idea where he went.

I put my hand out and just as I was about to touch the batmobile I hear a sudden ruckus. The ruckus – three people running at me yelling a mixture of “no”, “stop”, and “don’t do that”.

I stop. They get closer. Then all three make it to me, out of breath from running and bickering with each other. I recognize these people.

Skinny Val Kilmer, who played Batman in Batman Forever.
George Clooney, who played Batman in Batman & Robin.
Nicolas Cage, who thankfully had nothing to do with any Batman movie.

Skinny-Val-Kilmer-George-Clooney-Nicolas-CageAll 3 actors were yelling at me to stop. Each thought they had priority, over me and one another, as to who should drive the batmobile. But the next thing I know – I’m in the batmobile. Bad news. There isn’t anywhere to drive it.

I put the batmobile into neutral, it drifts about 3 inches before the tip of the car hits the wall and I come to a stop. I hop out.

Brad Pitt is back. He’s semi-yelling at these three other chuckle-heads when all 5 of us hear a fairly loud sound. We all go down to the first floor hoping to figure out what made the noise.

The first floor is one huge room. No furniture. It’s warehouse like in size and style. My first feeling is that Brad Pitt could easily fit like 1,000 people in this room.

zombie
I guess this is close enough to how the zombie looked in the dream… lol

I approach a small staircase. Standing at the top of the stairs, I can see Brad Pitt’s front door at the bottom, that’s it. Nothing terrible. As I walk away from the top of the stairs I see a small sledge-hammer. I grab it. Then Nicolas Cage said he saw a zombie in the corner near the stairs I just walked away from. And he’s right! I turn and there is a zombie right behind me.

Thinking the sledge-hammer was kinda heavy, I didn’t swing it that hard at the zombie knowing the impact would be great. I was wrong. It didn’t stop this zombie. So I hit it again, but harder this time. This time I stopped it.

Next thing I know – hundreds of people burst through Brad Pitt’s front door.

They were looking for a staging area/shelter to prepare for the next wave of zombies in the area. My brother Brian somehow finds me in the mass of people and says I should come with him. He said that he and SB have something for me. When we find SB he’s standing next to a collection of two-piece pool cues.

With a big grin on his face, SB says, “These puppies are great for killing zombies”.
“You can keep a distance as you take’em out”.

I grab two pieces and start screwing them together. The pieces aren’t quite tight yet when Brian told me to test it out. Somehow a zombie found me out of all these hundreds of people in this huge warehouse of a room.

I take a swing, and take out the zombie. The pool cue broke since it wasn’t tightened all the way.

With a grin on my face, I look at SB and say something to the effect of:

“Let’s brace these cues, we’ve got work to do”.

That’s when I woke up…

Please, if anyone could put these pieces together and clue me in on any reasons why I had this dream, let me know. The dream has intrigue, but I think the analysis could be even more intriguing.

  1. Johnny: As dreams are obviously the forte of my contributor, “The Sleeper”, Johnny has decided that for the first time, for the last time, and possibly for the fifth time, depending on his future time travel options…that he’ll allow the Sleeper to comment in his stead…

The Sleeper: First and foremost. What a cast! Ain’t nobody I don’t like in this house. Even Cage. Yes, Cage. I am a Cage fan. I enjoy full-throttle Cage-dom. Second, I’m impressed that Johnny knows the word “forte”. Really. It’s a little big for him…and very outside his own forte. That said, my first true observation concerns the main event, i.e., the zombie attack and zombie slaying. If you, Matt, are anything like myself, this obviously represents your desire to experience such events in real life. I find the zombie scenery to be one of my most common daydream/fantasies, and always look forward to having dreams in which it becomes real for a night. What fun!

Now, with one exception, most of this dream is fairly straight forward. The pool cues? You play pool. SB? You associate SB with pool. The using of the cues to slay zombies? You and SB did that at the beach last summer…and on top of that, Johnny tells me you’re a skilled player of the game…so, considering that headshots are the best way to kill zombies, that headshots often make zombie heads roll, that rolling heads are very similar to pool balls, and also that in Johnny’s video game which shall never be finished your character uses pool cues as his weapons…..taking all that into consideration…the only logical conclusion…is that the two-piece cues represent two-piece bathing suits, which you secretly wish you could have worn to the beach with SB. But as it broke with your first swing, you know you’ll never be able to pull it off, unlike SB did in his hot little pink velvety number.

Next, the cast! Again, fairly simple. You love Batman. Of course you want to drive a Batmobile. And who else to stop you but TWO former Batmen…and the two that you dislike the most…I mean if it was Keaten or Nolan, you might feel an obligation of respect to let them drive. But not Val or George. And Cage? Well…given your opinion of the man, he’s obviously the comic relief. And Pitt? Well… He’s Brad Pitt. Everyone dreams about him at some point. No shame in it. Johnny dreamt about him the other day in fact. You might say he…found the “pitt” in Brad Pitt…

Whiiiiiiich….brings me to my final point, and the one thing that makes no sense in this dream…

……Brad Pitt owning the Batmobile from Batman Forever? COME ON! You know he’d have a replica of the original. Or at the very least, something from the latest trilogy just to be trendy. Or even a campy throwback to the Adam West Batman show… But Batman Forever??? Batman Fuhgeddaboudit.

    1. Wow! I never thought I’d admit to this, but I gotta give The Sleeper props. Job well done.

That said, Nick Mimmic may or may not have up’d the ante Sleeper. Maybe the next dream blog I post I’ll set up a duel between the two of you and see who elaborates the best!?!

Of the 3 dreams I’ve posted on this blog site – 2 of them include Batman in one form or another. Which I find interesting.

The first of which is obviously “The Blimp Saga” (One of my favorite dreams due to swooping in blimp style). And now this post.

Maybe I should consult the greatest detective of all time? Figure out why I’ve got bats on the brain??

      1. Yo. Johnny here. The Sleeper has agreed to this duel at my insistence. Johnny will do anything to get Minnick, aka Mimmic, involved. He even agreed to a more realistic, more heartfelt interpretation, much as Minnick’s comment was. Although Johnny doesn’t condone such writing. He prefers the poop jokes. And Johnny also contacted Batman. He said “How’d you get this email? And where should I send my deadly reply? In any event, I’ll consult on this dream…if only to find out whether or not its part of a greater conspiracy against Batman. Batman out. PS. I’m not Batman.”

  2. Hallway
To see a hallway in your dream symbolizes self exploration. It is the beginning of the path that you are taking in life. You are going through a transitional phase and journeying into the unknown. It also signals spiritual enlightenment, emotional growth physical prowess, new opportunities and mental passages in your life.

    Car (the Batmobile)
To dream that you are driving a car denotes your ambition, your drive and your ability to navigate from one stage of your life to another. Consider how smooth or rough the car ride is. If you are driving the car, then you are taking an active role in the way your life is going. However, if you are the passenger, then you are taking a passive role. If you are in the backseat of the car, then it indicates that you are putting yourself down and are allowing others to take over. This may be a result of low self-esteem or low self-confidence. Overall, this dream symbol is an indication of your dependence and degree of control you have on your life.

To see a parked car in your dream suggests that you need to turn your efforts and energies elsewhere. You may be needlessly spending your energy in a fruitless endeavor. Alternatively, a parked car may symbolize your need to stop and enjoy life.

    Room
To dream that you are in a room represents a particular aspect of yourself or a specific relationship. Dreams about various rooms often relate to hidden areas of the conscious mind and different aspects of your personality. If the room is welcoming or comfortable, then it signifies opulence and satisfaction in life. If you see a dark or confined room, then it denotes that you feel trapped or repressed in a situation.

To dream that you find or discover a new room suggests that you are developing new strengths and taking on new roles. You may be growing emotionally. Consider what you find in the discovered room as it may indicate repressed memories, fears, or rejected emotions. Alternatively, such rooms are symbolic of neglected skills or rejected potential.

    Zombie
To dream that you are attacked by zombies indicate that you are feeling overwhelmed by forces beyond your control. You are under tremendous stress in your waking life. Alternatively, the dream represents your fears of being helpless and overpowered.

After reading about these symbols, I would say your dream is on par with the anxiety of being a first-time parent. I promise caring for a baby will be less stressful than fending off zombies. Might not always be as fun, especially when SB and pool aren’t involved, but you’ll do great. By the way, way to punk Nick Cage to get the batmobile!

    1. Good question!

Since Keaton had the wherewithal to opt out of playing Batman in ridiculousness that was “Batman Forever” and “Batman & Robin”, he prolly wasn’t looney enough to be tagging along with the likes of Nicky Cage. LOL

Who in their right mind would ever want to hang out with Cage? 🙂

  3. I totally thought the blog post was going to be about attending a Dream Theater concert. I saw them about 10 years ago and it was 90-95% dudes there. More than Rush. It was a good sausage fest.

Anyhow, cool dream. I have no gift of interpretation, but favor anything that has sledgehammers in it.
