CW’s Arrow: Pulling All The Stops!

Arrow_TV_Series_Promo_Poster When I wrote this little plea for a Green Arrow TV show, I knew a GA show would be interesting.. but this? What Arrow is doing? I had no idea the show would be capable of rounding up (successfully I might add) so many DC properties. Over a 32 episode span (the mid-season finale of season 2 just aired Wednesday), DC fans have seen Oliver run into or mention all kinds of awesome characters. I figured I’d do a quick little recap, because even I lost count:

  • Summer Glau is just one of the baddies yet to make their presence known.
Summer Glau is just one of the baddies yet to make their presence known as “The Queen”.

    The Flash

  • Black Canary
  • Roy Harper
  • The Huntress
  • Felicity Smoak
  • Merlyn The Dark Archer
  • Shado
  • China White
  • Bronze Tiger
  • Deadshot
  • Slade Wilson (Deathstroke)
  • Bill Wintergreen
  • Cyrus Gold (Soloman Grundy)
  • Isabel Rochev (The Queen)
  • Sebastian Blood
  • The Dollmaker
  • Count Vertigo
  • The Dodger
  • The League of Assassins (with mention of Ra’s al Ghul)
  • Dr. Anthony Ivo
  • Dr. Amanda Waller
  • Firefly
Oliver Queen still has a long road ahead.

There are even more that I’m forgetting too… And don’t forget the Easter Eggs!! Mentions of Ted Kord (aka the Blue Beetle), Blüdhaven (where Nightwing hails from), Coast City (Green Lantern’s stomping ground), and Central City (Flash’s home turf). Plus S.T.A.R. Labs, H.I.V.E…. the Easter Egg list literally goes on and on.

DC Comics, along with the Arrow writers – You deserve a roaring round of applause. (This is where you nod your head in agreement) Thanks for delivering the goods.

Oh yea – that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There is still another hero slated to make his way to Starling City before the end of season 2 – Nightwing!!!! Plus, Robert Knepper (of Prison Break fame) has been cast to appear in episode 14 of season 2 as The Clock King. Like I said before – Arrow is pulling all the stops!

And I’m loving every minute of it.

    1. It’s crazy isn’t it? I would never have guessed this many DC characters would be involved so quickly. With Smallville, it seems like it took the writers many seasons before really taking to bringing other characters in.

      Thanks for the comment!

      1. Well, I guess they’ve learned a lot since Smallville…they’re starting to figure out how to interconnect things to make them more interesting. 🙂
