My Top 5 Movies From The Marvel Universe.

the-avengers-age-of-ultronThe wait for Avengers: Age of Ultron is over (I can’t believe it’s already May 2015!) and it was definitely worth the wait. Two thumbs up from MHB. With Age of Ultron out now, that takes the total Marvel Universe movie count to 11. And yes you read that right, up to 11!. Now, I’ll take this opportunity to form my top 5 movies from the Marvel Universe.

——> MHB’s Marvel. Avengers. Masterpiece.

For any peeps who haven’t seen Avengers: Age of Ultron yet, breathe easy. I will not and do not plan to spoil anything from the movie in this post. Though, there is definitely a lot to talk about. But the time for that chat is for another day.

I will say that dealing with such a huge ensemble seems like it could be a trap for any screen writer and/or director. Age of Ultron, much like the first Avengers, made that task look effortless. The characters are thrilling and relatable, while the stories understandable and interesting. The people behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) don’t really make their movies hard to like. Which is always one of the main critiques I hear when people pit Marvel’s movies vs DC’s movies (Batman, Superman, etc…). Hailing Marvel and damning DC.

Anyway… I’m here to officially release my Top 5 movies from the shared Marvel Cinematic Universe. Which includes all 11 movies from phase 1 and phase 2 that have been released so far.

Iron Man - Where it all started.

Iron Man – Where it all started.

Here are the eligible candidates:

Iron Man (2008)
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Thor (2011)
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
The Avengers (2012)
Iron Man 3 (2013)
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

Kinda hard to believe they’ve produced 11 movies already in this venture. Might be even crazier though that Marvel has already announced their next 11 films through 2019!

Ant-Man in July of this year. Then Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange next year (2016). Guardians 2, Spider-Man, and Thor: Ragnarok in 2017. Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel in 2018. Followed by Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 and Inhumans in 2019.

Part of me wants to wait to do this post until after Ant-Man comes out. I got a pretty good feeling that Ant-Man will easily make it onto this list. But anyways… To my top 5! In reverse order…

#5 – Thor (2011)

The-Avengers1Now that I’ve revealed my list – I’d like to hear yours. And remember, this is just a list of my favorites so far, not my opinion of the best.

  1. I was right with my May feeling about seeing Ant-Man in July. It was really well done and I really enjoyed it. After some debate within myself.. and talking about it with friends who have seen it. Ant-Man is TOP 5!

    (Here is my amended list)

    1 – Avengers
    2 – Iron Man
    3 – Cap: Winter Soldier
———> These first 3, in my opinion, are on a tier by themselves.
4 – Avengers: Age of Ultron
    5 – Ant-Man

  2. Ant-Man making the list! Off the top of my head, I decided to do my five, though I don’t have an order for them yet, but: Ant-Man made the cut. Along with Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, and Guardians. Of course, (1) I still haven’t seen Age of Ultron to make a decision on it, (2) I was falling asleep during Winter Solder…so I’d want to rewatch it, and (3) I feel a rewatching of Hulk is in order too…maybe it’s like a fine wine and gets better with time? Hahahahah hmm.
